Reaching Out for Children and Young People

Reaching Out is a local service offering confidential support to children and young people. The project helps children and young people feel positive about themselves and the relationships in their lives, and promotes a better understanding of emotional wellbeing. We provide a safe, non-judgmental environment for children and young people. We also work with families and provide parental support.

If you are feeling worried, stressed, angry or sad or are having problems at school or with family and friends: we can help.

We offer:

  • An informal drop-in service for young people.
  • One-to-one support and group workshops.
  • Help with issues such as bullying, low self-esteem, anger, anxiety and social isolation.
  • General advice about emotional wellbeing.
  • Family and home visits.
  • Information about accessing services.
  • Joint work with schools and other agencies.

Referrals for children and family work can be made through schools/other agencies, or by contacting us directly.

11 – 18 years old: you can self-refer by contacting us or coming to the girls’ only drop-in, which takes place every Monday from 4-6pm.

Our guiding principles:

  • We listen without judgement.
  • All of our services are free and confidential.
  • We respect your decisions and choices.
  • We believe in equal rights and equal opportunities.

How to get involved:

We welcome young people and volunteers who would like to contribute towards the running of the project. This may include outreach work, interpreting, and community-based awareness-raising. Please note that due to the sensitive nature of the work, volunteers do not normally undertake direct clinical work with clients.
