Projects for Adults
Employment Project
The Employment Project provides support to unemployed people living in Tower Hamlets. Our project takes a holistic approach to unemployment; addressing reasons behind unemployment; exploring barriers to finding employment and acknowledging the impact of family circumstances. The services offered are personalised and centred around the individual needs, hopes and dreams of each client. Our staff use a range of techniques to engage the clients and to give them the necessary support to find suitable employment. We aim to give our clients the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in finding a job and to empower them to be the driving force behind their future.
Our project is religiously and culturally sensitive, and draws on a wealth of experience working with people from BME (Black Minority Ethnic) communities living in Tower Hamlets. We have a female and a male employment advisor, to accommodate anyone wishing to have gender specific provision.
We Offer
One-to-one assessments and individual support
Kickstart your career: Interactive workshops focused on developing the necessary skills for entering the workplace. This will include time spent developing communication & decision making skills, working both as a team player and a leader, and strengthening self-confidence. These workshops aim to empower clients to identify their goals, and have the confidence to pursue them.
Pre-employment training: Participants take part in an accredited (National Open College Network) Ready to Work course, which consists of 30 hours of learning. Throughout the course, participants are offered guidance about how to write a successful CV, complete an application form, and improve their interview skills. It is an excellent chance for participants to meet new people, develop their presentation skills and learn in a fun and engaging environment. By the end of the training, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and confidence to pursue work or training independently. It is also an opportunity to practice interview techniques and improve communication and presentation skills.
Post-training advice & support:
- Assistance in finding the right career path;
