Projects for Young People

Act Change!

Act Change! takes place in Secondary schools across Tower Hamlets and helps young people to explore the causes and effects of peer pressure, truancy, exclusion and anti-social behaviour. The projects take place once a week, during normal school hours, over the course of 1 term. During that time young people gain life skills so that they develop their understanding of the effects their behavior has on the world around them and are then able to make better choices in difficult situations.

The sessions are 100% active and everybody is encouraged to get involved in whichever way they feel comfortable. Most of the activities are drama-based so young people have the opportunity to re-enact difficult real life events, and replay these scenarios practicing different approaches to bring about a more positive outcome. The young people are also supported to create realistic dramas about the issues they face which can be performed to a school audience. Audiences are invited to get involved in the drama to see if they can re-enact certain parts of the play slightly differently to change the course of the action for the better!

If you are a young person who currently attends one of the secondary schools in Tower Hamlets, and you believe this project might help the pupils in your school, why not pass our details onto your head of year?
